Ladies Section

Date: 10/07 Title: Girls at Gunton Hall

Well what can I say !!!

The Ladies were once again let loose on the general public !

This time we decided to go on a Warners break in Lowestoft which was a Motown music weekend. The ladies in question were myself, Jean, Marj, Pauline, Toni, Amanda and Vicki. We arrived on the Friday afternoon and got settled in.

Each evening we had a lovely three course meal and then danced the night away. We danced the night away as if we were 18 again and boy can we move. Each night there was live entertainment then followed by a disco. We even played a game of Bingo and guess what - yes Amanda won !

Unfortunately, on the Friday night our two ladies from Felixstowe over did it a bit on the wine and - yes you guessed - didn't make breakfast. In fact they didn't make breakfast the next day either ! (no staying power girls !!)

On Saturday we started the day off after breakfast with a nice walk along the beach. We then went to the pool for a relaxing swim and sauna. We even managed to get Pauline in the water and for someone who is very scared of water she did brill - Porky should be proud of her. Well done Pauline.

Not to let the grass grow under our feet we then decided to try our hands at archery and if Robin Hood was still around he would have a band of "Merry Women". We were now on a run and next headed off to the rifle range. I was very surprised when my first target came back with no marks whatsoever on it but the person beside me did really well and I am sure some of my shots went on his target ! My next round was much better. Jean and Amanda scored very well and Marj, who had never even held a rifle now has a new name -"Sniper Marj" well done Marj.

Saturday night saw us on the dance floor once again with a little help from a few jugs of pimms which slipped down very nicely (but we won't mention the jugs - will we girls !)

Marj and I had some very nice neighbours in the chalet next door and we sat outside in our PJs with them until 2.30 in the morning - but what a laugh we had. It turned out that the husband was also ex-army.

Sunday came and off we went on a bike ride. The bikes left a lot to be desired and poor Vicki was given a very small childs BMX as she was the smallest. As we turned the first corner Marj fell off but glad to say with no injuries. We had a lovely ride out into the countryside and stopped off for a coffee half way. Pauline, who hadn't been on a bike for years was very nervous when we set off but again did brill. Jean (the Mum of the gang) showed how fit she still is when she got on that bike. On the way back I managed to fall off and end up in a ditch ! Unfortunatley Toni had to return home early Sunday morning as she was flying off to America so she missed the bike ride (lucky girl). When we got back one of the young men who worked at Warners came running to greet us and we were very pleased that he had missed us so much. We then realised that the bike Vicki had been given (which had no breaks) actually belonged to a member of staff who was waiting to go home on it so she was riding a stolen bike (how very dare she) Crimestoppers are still looking for "The Felixstowe Felon".

Unfortunately Vicki and Amanda had to leave at teatime and we were down to four but again we hit that dance floor and there was no stopping us.

We were very sad to leave on Monday morning but had a brill time.

We tried all weekend to tell everyone we met that Jean was our Mum but many would not believe us and those who did thought she had a lovely bunch of daughters !! Thanks Mum. We were very well behaved (most of the time) and had a great time and those who joined in on our company also had a great time.

All I can say girls is you are a great bunch and great company and even though I was the best behaved (as usual) and had to keep you all in order I think this has to become an annual event and I can't wait to the next one.

Be safe.

Carol

PS. Anyone who wishes to join us on our next adventure , please do so as you will have an absolutely brill time. Please enjoy the photos.
